SANT JERONI DE LA MURTRA
Erected in 1416, by the Barcelona merchant Bertran Nicolau, who had it rebuilt on the old rural house of La Murtra, between Badalona and Santa Coloma de Gramanet.
The monastery was consolidated and obtained favors under the reigns of the Catholic Monarchs and King Charles I, who took charge of the realization of great works in the monastery.
The cloister consists of two floors of galleries covered with ribbed Gothic vaults that in their starting modillions show portraits and coats of arms of their benefactors and other characters related to the monastery, such as the Catholic Monarchs, Charles I, Columbus and Ramon Llull. The keystones depict saints and heraldic themes. In the courtyard garden there is a large bush of a murtra, which is the Catalan name for the myrtle plant, and a fountain in the shape of an octagonal star made in 1502, decorated with lion heads.
