ADUANA BUILDING, Enric Sagnier 1902

Work for BIM project for ETSAV- UPC

The old Customs building of the Port of Barcelona, which stands on Paseo de Josep Carner, 27-29, in front of the Drassanes, in the Raval neighborhood, just in front of Port Vell --the old merchandise port--, next to the Moll de la Fusta.

Known by the name of New Customs, it replaced the old offices, located in what was later the headquarters of the Civil Government (currently in disuse). The huge building, built between 1896 and 1902, is the work of the architect Enric Sagnier i Villavecchia in collaboration with Pere Garcia i Fària, a specialist in city sanitation and a road, canal and port engineer. Architecturally it follows the usual eclectic style of the author. Who was a seagull! Only in this way could we observe the H-shaped structure that its two parallel bodies, joined by another transversal, give it.
