The monastery of Jonqueres street (12th century), of the nuns of St. James, was one of the monasteries that had problems with the disentailment. The nuns were expelled from the convent by the French occupation troops and the congregation was dissolved. The building, located in the surroundings of the current Urquinaona square, was occupied by the army until 1867, when it was converted into a parish dedicated to the Conception. The stone by stone transfer of the elements of Jonqueres and Sant Miquel and the cloister (XIV century) in 1872 allowed the construction of the new parish in an area where at that time there were only fields, because the bourgeoisie had not yet launched the conquest of the Eixample.
